What makes this mark recognizable?

Identity cues, heritage, and visual details to keep in mind before the asset lands in your UI.

Qoros was established in 2007 as a China based international car company originally backed by Chery Automobile and Israel Corporation interests. Its branding was introduced with a clean Qoros wordmark and a geometric emblem built around the letter Q, supporting the company’s aim to present a modern, export-ready Chinese automotive identity.

The logo has generally used restrained monochrome and metallic treatments on vehicles, emphasizing precision and a premium positioning rather than traditional national or heraldic motifs. After Baoneng Group became the controlling shareholder, the Qoros identity continued to be associated with the same compact Q emblem and minimalist wordmark.

How the mark got here

The identity shifts that explain the Qoros logo in use today.

Origins

Qoros began in 2007 as Chery Quantum Automotive Corporation, a joint venture between Chery Automobile and Israel Corporation interests. The company was created to develop vehicles in China with an international engineering, design and quality focus. It later adopted the Qoros name and positioned itself as a new Chinese brand aimed at both domestic and overseas markets.

Brand launch and first models

Qoros presented its first production model, the Qoros 3 Sedan, in the early 2010s and used the launch to establish a clean, premium visual identity. The Qoros 3 gained attention for its safety performance in Euro NCAP testing, which supported the brand’s international positioning. The logo and wordmark were used consistently across vehicle badging, motor show displays and corporate communications.

Baoneng era

In 2017, Baoneng Group agreed to acquire a controlling stake in Qoros, changing the company’s ownership direction after its initial joint venture period. Under Baoneng, Qoros remained a Chinese passenger car brand, with product plans including conventional and new energy vehicles. The brand identity retained its restrained Q emblem and modern wordmark rather than moving to a heavily revised visual system.

When the logo changed

A compact record of redesigns, visual turns, and the reasons the mark moved.

2007

Qoros launch identity

The original Qoros identity centered on a compact, geometric Q symbol paired with a clean uppercase wordmark. The emblem was commonly presented in black, silver or metallic vehicle-badge finishes, aligning with the brand’s international and premium aspirations.

Reason for redesign: The identity was created for the launch of a new Chinese automotive marque with ambitions beyond the domestic market.

2013

Production vehicle badging

With the introduction of the Qoros 3, the Q emblem appeared as a physical vehicle badge, typically using a chrome or metallic finish on bodywork and a monochrome treatment in communications.

Reason for redesign: The production badge translated the corporate mark into a durable vehicle emblem suitable for grilles, tailgates and interior applications.

What to preserve in production

Shape, color, and type cues that keep Qoros recognizable at app scale.

Composition

The Qoros mark is built around a simplified Q form, usually paired with a horizontally set wordmark. Its compact symbol and open, modern lettering create a technical and automotive-appropriate identity without relying on shields, wings or animal motifs.

Symbol

The letter Q directly anchors the brand name and gives the marque a distinctive initial-based symbol. The circular aspect of the Q can be read as a sign of continuity and precision, while the cut or tail detail creates movement and a machine-made character.

Lettering

The Qoros wordmark uses clean, contemporary lettering with an engineered feel. Its restrained proportions support the brand’s original goal of appearing international, modern and quality-focused rather than decorative or regional.

Color

Qoros has commonly used black, white, silver and chrome-like metallic finishes. The black primary reference provides clarity in digital use, while metallic vehicle applications give the emblem a premium automotive surface treatment.

Shape

The logo’s main shape is geometric and compact, with the Q serving as both a letter and a stand-alone badge. This makes it suitable for grilles, steering wheels, wheel centers and app-style digital contexts.

Heritage

Because Qoros is a relatively young marque, its logo does not draw on long-running family crests or historic industrial symbols. Its identity instead reflects the 2000s emergence of Chinese automakers seeking global credibility through design, engineering and brand discipline.

Market context

Qoros represents a period when Chinese automotive companies increasingly sought international design language and export-oriented credibility. Its logo avoids overt national symbolism, which helped the brand present itself as globally minded from inception.

Design logic

The design philosophy is minimal, engineered and brand-name led. It communicates precision and controlled modernity, matching Qoros’s original positioning as a Chinese company built with international product development standards.
