UAZ traces its identity to the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant, established during World War II after automotive production was relocated from Moscow to Ulyanovsk. The brand became closely associated with simple, durable utility vehicles, especially the UAZ-469 and later the Hunter, Patriot and commercial van families.
Its emblem is widely known for a stylized winged bird or gull-like form set within a circular frame, a mark that reinforces movement, ruggedness and the plant's long association with off-road mobility.
